At the Clinic

Prenatal and postpartum care is provided at our beautiful clinic in Port Moody. Get directions to our office: 306-2502 St. Johns Street.

Hospital Births

We are delighted to care for labouring clients and deliver babies at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. RCH is well-known for its high-quality care, both for low-risk and higher-risk patients. And although we always hope to not need their services, RCH’s NICU is one of the best in Canada!

Homebirth Support

Our team at Inlet Birth offers and support planned homebirth as a safe choice. We have two caregivers on call so that planned homebirths are not diverted to hospital due to staffing concerns. See the College of Midwives of BC’s Place of Birth Handbook to read about place of birth guidelines and decision-making. If you are considering homebirth, this article from UBC about the safety of homebirth in BC is a great place to start!

Postpartum home visits

Our team at Inlet Birth offers postpartum home visits for the first week after your baby is born if your address is in our catchment area. If you don’t live in our catchment area (Port Coquitlam, Coquitlam, Port Moody, New Westminster, Burnaby, or west Pitt Meadows), your care provider will discuss meeting at our clinic for postpartum visits.

Our Programs

Community Birth Program

The Inlet Birth team provides collaborative, interdisciplinary care. Our team is comprised of midwives, family physicians, and nurses who provide interdisciplinary care to clients. Registered midwives and family physicians who specialize in low-risk delivery are on call in 12- or 24-hour shifts. Clients will be offered either group-based care in the Connecting Pregnancy model, or individual visits. If your risk profile changes, we’ll consult with local specialists and expand your care plan as necessary, and we will stay involved in a supporting role. Other features of our unique team include choice of birth place, home visits after delivery, and lactation consultant support for up to six weeks after your birth.

New Baby Time Drop-in Care

We offer weekly postpartum drop-in care for new parents and newborns, with a focus on feeding support. You do not need to be a client of Inlet Birth to see us for postpartum care—we are available to care for you and your baby any time from birth until 6-8 weeks postpartum. Call or e-mail us to book an appointment!

Inlet Community Birth Program rests on the traditional and unceded territory of the Coast Salish Peoples. We are grateful to have the opportunity to work in this territory.
